Our Mission
Our mission is to help teachers teach and to help learners learn. Believing that we are all teachers and we are all learners, the mission of Teachers Alley is to serve the needs of customers and employees. Our intention is to offer personal, caring service to all who enter the store.
About Us
Teachers' Alley has been in business for over 16 years. In May 2006, we, Barbara and Chris Frandsen, bought the store from the previous owners. We are attempting to make this a resource for the entire community of parents, teachers and children. We are not focused on certified teachers alone. Parents are obviously teachers and teachers frequently learn from their students. Whether you are a teacher or a learner you are invited to visit our store. Our mission is to help teachers teach and learners learn.
Barbara
Teaching has been a major mission of Barbara's life for over 35 years. Experience includes teaching: first through sixth grades, senior high students, and college level pre-service teachers. After working as a special education teacher, she became committed to learning, developing, and sharing ways to teach those for whom learning is not easy, regardless of cause. To this end, she has taken many workshops, developed texts for pre-service and in-service teachers, revised teacher education courses at St. Edward's University, and shared ideas with other teachers and parents. Her quest continues to be to seek new ways to meet both classroom and individual learning needs. It is her conviction that education is the key to individual fulfillment and family unity. She will bring her passion and interest for reading, special education and bilingual education to the store. Barbara_Frandsen
Chris
Chris recently worked at Apple Computer, Inc. and with K-12 schools throughout Texas. He is excited about the potential of multimedia, computers and the Internet to expand every learner's experience of the world. He believes that the more a learner knows about one's self, one's community, country, planet and our place in the universe the more peaceful the world will be. Education is the key to peace, a big idea that is not new. He will bring his passion for technology, software and his joy of sharing new things to the store. |
