Free Advice and Catalog

Teachers' Alley can order items from their catalog for you. We do not have the resources particularly space to stock many titles.

Wikipedia.org

Free

Great free open source encyclopedia. Great example of the new cooperative world of the internet. However recent events have shown that politically sensitive articles may be slewed by authors' points of view. In spite of the community's best efforts sometime these articles get through. I suggest when researching current events all facts should be verified by at least three independent on-line resources before using them. __________________________________________________________

Amen Clinic Resources
A great resource for brain health and development issues. Learners of all ages may suffer from concentration and learning issues related to injury or abuse of the brain. Dr. Amen has assembled a wonderful collection of diagnostic and rehabilitation tools for the brain. Labeling a problem learner does not always reflect the true underlying brain condition. These resources offer advice for before and after a learning disability diagnosis.

Here is a link to the Texas Education Agency's page on Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). This is the listing of all the teaching objectives for each grade level and subject area. It is not only essential knowledge for students but it is essential knowledge for parents and grandparents if they want to know what their children or grandchildren are learning every year.

Environmental Call to Action

http://www.teachersalley.com/?page=calltoaction

Our environment is in trouble. There are a myriad of reasons for this. Global warming, habitat destruction and pollution to name just a few. This excerpt from a scientist's blog gives some frightening figures but also offers some ways that all of us can help. Please take a look. Share with your parents, teachers, students and children. If we all get to work today maybe the tomorrow for our grandchildren will be better.
